About SleepImage

The SleepImage System is a sleep technology that has been trained to gather, store, and display complex sleep data through multi-night 6-channel testing.

The SleepImage System

An Overview

Rooted in sleep solution advancement, the SleepImage System is built with the vision to simplify yet amplify the home sleep test process. Supported by a wearable and flexible sleep ring and a smart mobile application, the SleepImage System helps physicians diagnose complex sleep disorders like sleep apnea (obstructive and central).
The system is independent of consumables or wires – adding to the simplicity and comfort of the method. All the physicians have to do is get their patients to wear the ring and set up the mobile application so the system can start gathering data. The intelligent and perceptive program is scalable allowing the physician to conduct an in-depth, 6-channels sleep study.
While cost-effective, the SleepImage process has been developed by an ambitious team of professionals who have dedicated decades to the sleep science industry. The team is aided by an advisory board of sleep medicine experts with mountains of contributions under their belt.

Our Mission

We come to work driven by our mission to enable access to evidence-based information on health collected during sleep, with a vision to improve access to accurate sleep data at the physician level to create better sleep solutions that work long-term.

The SleepImage Leadership

Bogi Palsson, BA

CEO

Bogi Palsson got involved with sleep medicine in 2004 when he invested in Flaga hf. The company is accredited with developing the Embla sleep diagnostic family of products and running a group of hospital-based sleep centers in the United States. As the Chairman of the Board, he guided the transformation of the company into what eventually became SleepImage.

After graduating in Business Administration from the University of Iceland (1987), Bogi ran several startups which were eventually nurtured and sold. He served as Director on boards of other companies and trade associations. Moreover, he has earned awards for marketing achievements and for building a workplace voted by a Union of Employees as “the best company to work for”.
“The SleepImage System has been developed with the vision of improving access to accurate sleep information for health and disease management. It enables evidence-based decisions on health collected during sleep and contributes to healthier people and a safer world. The pursuit is relentless, the opportunity is humbling and the possibility to do well by doing good is what drives the pursuit”.

Solveig Magnusdottir, MD, MBA

Medical Director

Solveig Magnusdottir’s interest in finding a simple and accurate sleep solution after noticing a high prevalence of sleep disorders and complaints. Worse yet, there was a severe lack of access to workable sleep measurement tools and evaluation methods that would allow repeated testing.
Solveig started her journey by graduating in Medicine from the University of Iceland in 1994. Then she followed it with a degree in Family Medicine in 2003 and a Master’s degree in Business and Administration from the University of Reykjavik in 2007. Currently, she is enrolled in the Master’s program for Sleep Medicine at the University of Oxford.
For the past few years, Solveig has been working on developing the SleepImage method, which now has been published in multiple articles in scientific peer-reviewed literature.
“Good sleep is a key to maintaining physical and mental health. With a high prevalence of sleep complaints and sleep disorders, access to clinically validated objective sleep-testing for patients and providers is fundamental to the practice of precision medicine. The SleepImage System is a clinically validated, simple, and low-cost solution for physicians to implement into their practice and it is, easy for patients to use. It offers raw stored data to professionals to objectively evaluate, diagnose and track patient sleep health over time.”

Hugi Hilmisson, MA

Director of Product Development

Hugi Hilmisson focuses on developing novel methods for detecting and characterizing physiological conditions from data captured during sleep. These new methods should allow for improved outcomes, lower costs, and better access to healthcare.
Hugi is interested in developing software that maximizes the utilization of commonly collected physiological signals during sleep, such as the electrocardiogram and photoplethysmogram. He researches the efficacy analysis of methods and investigates the relationship between SleepImage System output (Cardiopulmonary Coupling, Cyclic Variation of Heart Rate, and more) and healthcare outcomes including CVD, CAD, and risk of fatality.
Hugi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014 with a Master’s degree in Economics. His sleep research has been published in multiple peer-reviewed journals and resulted in patents.
“Sleep disorders and sleep quality are a moving target and past methods have not allowed healthcare providers to properly characterize each patient’s condition. To improve outcomes, practitioners need accurate methods that are low-cost and easy to implement. SleepImage offers repeated measurements for more accurate diagnosis and regular follow-up to improve the health and well-being of the population.”

Fatima Denney

Vice President of Sales

Fatima Denney has been a fixture within the sleep industry since 2013. She has made a name for herself in helping shape and implement best practices to bridge the gap of care through diagnostic home sleep testing and various therapies. Her experience from these collaborative efforts led her to SleepImage as VP of Sales. Fatima graduated from the University of Montpellier (France) with a B.S. in Biology and started her own business where she quickly expanded to understanding the needs of her customers that grew her business to over forty employees by the age of 25. She found her passion in sleep medicine, where the entrepreneurial experience has assisted her to understand the needs of small to large practices that have benefitted from her knowledge of over 15 years in sales.
“Having worked closely with specialists has enabled me to understand the pain points that clinicians struggle with in their daily practices. Sleep is linked to almost every medical specialty, which is why it is so important for providers to proactively test their patients’ sleep. The SleepImage technology eliminates the typical restrictions of high costs and difficulty of use to enhance people’s quality of life through the diagnosis and management of sleep health in both children and adults.”

Douglas B. Kirsch

MD, FAAN, FAASM

Dr. Kirsch is the Medical Director of Atrium Health Sleep Medicine, where he maintains an active clinical sleep practice and oversees Sleep Medicine for the Charlotte-based health system.

He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at the UNC School of Medicine and a Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Neurology at Atrium Health. He was the 2018-19 President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and was the Program Chair for the SLEEP Meeting in 2012-14 (the world’s largest scientific meeting for Sleep Medicine).

Dr. Kirsch has educated sleep clinicians across the country, speaking at national meetings and major universities. He has authored many book chapters and peer-reviewed publications and edited several books. On top of that, Dr. Kirch has given interviews on sleep medicine topics to CNN, the New York Times, NPR, and other national news sources. He is board-certified in Neurology and Sleep Medicine and is a Fellow of both the AAN and AASM.
“The future of Sleep Medicine increasingly appears to be an ongoing assessment of patient’s sleep outside the laboratory setting. Understanding how best to deploy home-based sleep assessment tools will be an important step for the future care of patients with sleep disorders. SleepImage offers a unique method of sleep assessment in a consumer-friendly package that should help identify and follow patients in a longitudinal manner with a goal of optimizing their long-term health.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

SleepImage is a revolutionary sleep tracing system that not only provides clinically accurate HST results to physicians, but by cutting out the hassle of multiple wires and consumables it makes sure patients willingly and comfortably conduct sleep tests. Moreover, by simplifying the process of HST the SleepImage system has minimized the possibility of errors and mishaps during sleep tests.
The SleepImage system comes with a sleep ring, a mobile application, and cloud storage. The ring is worn by the patient to gather disordered sleep patterns, the mobile application then receives and stores, and uploads the data onto the SleepImage cloud storage for physician use.
SleepImage’s main motive is to bring comfort and accessibility to sleep data – at affordable rates. We want to simplify the sleep tracking process to make data gathering easier and solution development quicker for the sleep medicine industry.
The SleepImage system comes equipped with software that displays gold-standard accuracy in its reservation of complex sleep data that has been acquired through 6-channel testing over multiple nights.
